Title: A review of saturation physics

Abstract: We will review the physics of high parton densities at small values of Bjorken x leading to the phenomenon of the gluon saturation. Considering deep inelastic scattering (DIS) as an example, we will derive the nonlinear BK and JIMWLK small-x evolution equations describing the transition into the saturation region, along with the physics inside that region. The initial conditions for these evolution equations are given by the dynamics of the classical gluon fields in the MV model (also known as the GGM rescattering). We will show that the solution of the nonlinear evolution equations with the classical initial conditions leads to a dynamical generation of a new momentum scale, the saturation scale, which grows with decreasing x and with increasing size of the nucleus (for scattering on a nucleus), justifying the perturbative approach to the problem.  If time allows, we will also discuss how the saturation physics can be tested at the future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC).
