Sophie Renner (Glasgow) -- What is the Standard Model flavour puzzle telling us?

Europe/London
Description

The continued success of the Standard Model of Particle Physics leaves us with a few loose ends. One of these is the lack of an explanation for the three generations of fermions, and their wildly different masses and mixings. In this talk I will discuss some new approaches towards this puzzle, with flavour-dependent gauge interactions. These can lead to novel phenomenology, that could be explored at current and future collider and flavour experiments.
