 y data collected at the LHC will bring the experimental error of several 
 observables at the per mille level\, also in the TeV mass range. The com
 bination of this information\, together with the precision studies of W a
 nd Z bosons properties\, will allow a very severe test of the Standard Mo
 del. I will illustrate recent theoretical results for the Drell-Yan dist
 ributions\, with the associated theoretical challenges\, relevant for the
  determination of the W boson mass\, of the weak mixing angle and about t
