Annual Departmental Research Event: Particle Physics

Europe/London
Description
Particle Physics deals with the building blocks of all matter in the universe and of the fundamental forces that operate between them. We try to understand what happens when high energy particles are smashed into each other at very high energies and we provide the theory and analysis behind a number of experiments to be carried out at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and elsewhere. We are seeking answers to some of the Universe's greatest secrets such as the mysteries surrounding antimatter and dark matter, the possibility of extra space-time dimensions and the existence of the elusive Higgs boson. The talks will demonstrate the diversity of research within the Particle Physics research group at Durham
