Description
The Large Hadron Collider experiments are testing the evolution of the strong coupling αs up to the TeV scale. We show that the ratio of 3- to 2-jets cross sections provides a good determination of alpha_s, even in the presence of new physics. The experimental measurements can then be used to place a model-independent bound on new particles carrying QCD colour charge and can constrain such states to be heavier than a few hundred GeVs.
