Description
We classify all weakly interacting fixed points of general 4d gauge theories coupled to matter and explain how the competition between gauge and matter fluctuations gives rise to a rich spectrum of high- and low-energy fixed points. The pivotal role played by Yukawa couplings is emphasized. Necessary and sufficient conditions for asymptotic safety of gauge theories are also derived, in conjunction with strict no go theorems. Implications for phase diagrams of general gauge theories are detailed, together with directions for model building beyond the Standard Model. -- [1] AD Bond, DF Litim, Theorems for asymptotic safety of gauge theories, 1608.00519 [hep-th] [2] DF Litim, F Sannino, Asymptotic safety guaranteed, JHEP 1412 (2014) 178 [3] DF Litim, M Mojaza, F Sannino, Vacuum stability of asymptotically safe gauge-Yukawa theories, JHEP 1601 (2016) 081
