After an introduction to quark flavour physics using lattice QCD, in particular the approach used by the HPQCD Collaboration, I discuss two ongoing projects: determination of |V_{cb}| from B -> D* l nu decays and improvements to the Standard Model prediction for the B_s meson width difference
