Description

In this talk, I will present a brief overview on the theory and the applications of the transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMD-PDF), including their connections to the QCD partonic evolution equations and to the transverse momentum factorization framework. In the context of the recent phenomenological calculations, it will be demonstrated that the TMD-PDF and particularly, the unintegrated parton distribution functions (UPDF) of the kt-factorization, are powerful assets in describing the high-energy hadronic scattering events. Using comprehensive numerical analysis and thorough comparisons on the results of calculating physical observables, e.g. the proton structure functions, W^± and Z^0 gauge vector bosons production rates, LO and NLO Higgs production, jet production, etc., it will be shown that the TMD-PDF are capable of producing sound predictions of these high-energy events even in the most simplistic frameworks.
