Title:
Abstract:
|Vub| is the smallest element of the CKM matrix and a key
ingredient to study the flavor sector. It is determined from tree-level
B meson decays in the exclusive B -> pi l nu and the inclusive B -> X_u
l nu channels. In this talk, I will explain how to distinguish the
inclusive B -> X_u l nu decays from its ~50 times larger B -> X_c l nu
background using multivariate analysis techniques such as Boosted
Decision Trees (BDTs) and Bayesian Neural Networks (BNNs). I will focus
specifically on the question how inclusive the multivariate approaches
really are and how much they depend on the Monte Carlo that they have
been trained on.
The talk is based on an ongoing project with Kevin and Ben.
