How to get to Durham

By Car

Durham is about 30 min. by car south of Newcastle upon Tyne. Find the A1 and leave it at exit Durham.

By Bus

There are bus connections to Durham or Newcastle from most major cities in England.

By Rail

The Intercity East-Coast line links Durham with London King's Cross and Edinburgh. Most Intercity trains stop in Durham. Otherwise you have to take a local train or taxi (less than 20 GBP) from Newcastle Central station. The Institute is located in the Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics, adjacent to the main Physics Department building on the University Science Site. If you are arriving by train it is a 20 minute walk from the railway station to the Department, or you can take a taxi. The Ogden Centre is number 12 on the University map below (click to enlarge):

Collingwood College

Collingwood College is situated on South Road very close to the Physics Department (number 6 on the University map above). It is a 25 minute walk from the railway station. Limited car parking space is available.
