Rydberg atoms: the dark horse in the quantum computing race? (3/6)

by Prof. Charles S. Adams (Durham )

Europe/London
Description

In this talk, I will briefly review the different experimental platforms currently being pursued to realise a quantum computer. Very recently, there has been an explosion of interest in the use of highly-excited Rydberg atoms for quantum computing. I will explain what makes Rydberg atoms special, how to build a Rydberg atom quantum computer, and how we might envisage that they can go beyond other platforms. I will also mention some open questions as regard to platforms and algorithms.
