The STFC HEP Summer School is aimed at UK-based experimental particle physics PhD students at the end of their first year of training. This school was originally scheduled to take place in September 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID19 pandemic.
The object of the School is to give participants a good grounding in the basic theoretical ideas of the Standard Model. The School consists of lectures covering Quantum Field Theory, Quantum Electrodynamics and Quantum Chromodynamics, the Standard Model and Phenomenology.
In addition to these lectures, you will be set problems every day, which you will have time to complete each afternoon. You will then have the opportunity to go through them with a member of staff during tutorials that will run every weekday.
Copies of the lecture notes/proceedings from last year's School will be made available via the School website. More information about all aspects of the school will be made available in the coming month.
Timetabled activities will begin at 09:00 on Monday 15th March and will finish mid-afternoon on Friday 26th March. There will be no school activities over the weekend. Further details about the timetable will be provided closer to the time. You are expected to participate for the full duration of the School.
