  - Partons at the LHC 1h
    
    The analysis of inclusive processes at the LHC, both in the Standard Model and beyond, relies on precise and accurate information on the distribution of the partons in the proton. In turn, LHC data are increasingly being used as input to the determination of the parton distributions themselves. We will describe how machine learning may be used to eliminate model dependence in these determinations, making them more accurate and precise, and thus enhancing the discovery potential of the LHC.

  - $\mathrm{Sp}(N_c)$ gauge theories for Beyond the Standard Model physics 1h
    
    Gauge theories based on $\mathrm{Sp}(N_c)$ groups are interesting for their role in potentially
    UV complete composite Higgs models in which it is possible to implement fermion
    partial compositeness. Moreover, this family of groups provides an alternative
    to $\mathrm{SU}(N_c)$ to explore the large-$N_c$ regime of gauge theories. In this talk,
    we will review the results obtained on the lattice for these gauge theories,
    with a special focus on the models relevant for BSM studies.

  - A challenge to the standard cosmological model 1h
    
    In the ΛCDM cosmological model the Universe is assumed to be isotropic & homogeneous when averaged on large scales. That the CMB has a dipole anisotropy is interpreted as due to our peculiar motion because of local inhomogeneity. There should then be a similar dipole in the sky distribution of high redshift sources. Using catalogues of radio sources and quasars we find that this expectation is rejected at >5σ, i.e. the distribution of distant matter is not isotropic in the 'CMB frame’. This calls into question the standard practice of boosting to this frame to analyse cosmological data, in particular to infer an isotropic acceleration of the Hubble expansion rate from supernovae, which is then interpreted as due to Λ.
