The 5th AEI International Workshop will be held in Durham and is hosted by the Institute of Particle Physics Phenomenology (IPPP) at Durham Univiversity UK. The aim of the meeting is to bring together theorists from participating institutes to share their ideas and dissimenate results of their research on particle physics and cosmology, with a particular focus on BSM.

AEI Workshops for BSM provide a prominent platform for theorists in particle physics and cosmology to explore new theoretical avenues and their applications to future experiments.  The first workshop, held in November 2019 in Jeju, South Korea, was combined with the 9th KIAS Workshop and focused on Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) topics. The second edition took place in November 2022, also in Jeju, marking the first post-pandemic event, emphasizing collaboration and promoting young researchers. The third workshop was held in October 2023 in Ikaho, Japan, and the most recent event was organised by the Tsung Dao Lee Institute/Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. Major participating institutions include Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU), High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, Japan (KEK), Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS), Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU),  the T.D. Lee Institute (TDLI) in China, and IPPP (IPPP) at Durham University UK.

27 Dilaton Forbidden Dark Matter from the Lattice

We take a dilaton EFT that has been successfully used to analyze lattice data for confining gauge theories near the conformal window boundary, and show that it can form a viable description of composite dark matter. The EFT contains a dilaton that is slightly heavier than a multiplet of stable pNGBs, and naturally implements the forbidden dark matter mechanism for relic density generation. Our framework therefore provides a novel and concrete way to connect recent developments in dark matter studies with lattice measurements in specific underlying gauge theories. Our presentation is based on arXiv:2404.07601.
